Pollen Allergies Tincture

by Laura

December 2007

For pollen allergies (and I have really bad ones in the spring/summer), the only thing that works for me is a fresh nettles tincture. Dried or freeze-dried nettles don't do the trick (for me). If you have nettles growing anywhere near you, you can pick them, put them straight in a jar, fill with vodka, and shake every day.

6 weeks is a good length of time for the strongest tincture, but this past spring, I made myself an emergency tincture of nettles when allergy season had already started. After just a few days of diligent shaking, I was able to pour off a little for use, and it worked pretty well. Almost as well as the completed tincture.

If you lived near me, I could just GIVE you a bunch of it, because I made way too much this year (supply for next spring)!

I would love some...where do you live? I live in the Pacific Northwest and sadly, have no idea what nettles look like, and have only accidentally touched them once (ouch!) This allergy season is a killer!

What do you do with this remedy? Do you drink it? If so, how much?
