Food Recipes: Oatmeal à la Joy

by: Joy

Categories: Breakfast, Fermented, Hot Cereals

This is oatmeal for you to "write home about".

Ingredients

  • A cup quick rolled oats
  • 4 cups milk (raw is best)
  • 1/4 cup honey, according to taste (raw is best)
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. salt (real sea salt)
  • A tsp. vanilla extract
  • A Tbsp. Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin coconut oil (solid at room temperature)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter (raw is best)
  • A pinch cloves powder
  • 1/8 of tsp. nutmeg

Directions

Blend milk, oats and cinnamon in blender for 2 - 3 seconds. Pour into a pot, and set to medium low heat. Stir regularly. Keep the heat on, and stir until the oatmeal thickens.

Turn off heat, and add the remaining ingredients. Stir well and serve.

Most of the time, we soak the rolled oats overnight in about half the milk and a few tablespoons of yogurt or kefir (12 - 24 soaking). This greatly increases the nutritional value of the resulting oatmeal.

I really enjoyed this oatmeal, and I'm usually not an oatmeal person.

Customer Feedback view all

Hello,
I was told about the Chaste Tree berry and how it was good for horses with Cushings. I asked around after trying to locate details about it and was referred to the More Than Alive site. I found it so easy to navigate and the prices were great and the delivery was so quick. I have reordered a second time and everything was quick and easy. I keep your website address handy for others who may need it.

Many thanks,
Liz
