Wheatgrass is an extremely nutritious whole food. Just one teaspoon of Wheatgrass powder, weighing a mere 3.5 grams, is nutritionally equal to an entire spinach salad weighing a full 50 grams. It packs a punch! Some other benefits include:
For the majority of people, consuming processed foods, along with stresses of every day life, create an acidic balance in the blood. This causes the body to store water and build up fat in the arteries (cholesterol) as protection from acidic blood.
By restoring alkalinity and neutralizing acid production your body can recover quicker, metabolize faster, reduce food cravings and achieve your optimal health. Wheat grass is believed to have many natural healing qualities. It contains large amounts of chlorophyll (the “blood” of plants), which is amazingly similar to hemoglobin, the molecule that carries oxygen in the blood.
Chlorophyll is soluble in fat particles, and since fat particles are absorbed directly in to the blood via the lymphatic system, there is evidence that chlorophyll can also be absorbed easily in this way. Essentially the “blood” of plants is easily absorbed into human blood, which transports nutrients efficiently to every cell of the body. This explains why chlorophyll is so readily assimilated into our blood stream and our bodies are able to utilize its powerful properties. With the addition of Chlorophyll into our diet, we are consuming the very essence of life’s energy.
Chlorophyll has been shown to build red blood cells quickly, normalize blood pressure by dilating the blood pathways though out the body, destroy poisonous carbon dioxide, release free oxygen and promote higher metabolism and stimulated enzyme systems. On top of all of these benefits, consuming chlorophyll from wheatgrass is a highly effective way to alkalize the blood and energize the body!
Because wheatgrass is a great source of vitamins B, C, E and carotene, it is hugely effective in destroying and eliminating free radicals and cleansing the body. Wheatgrass is also highly regarded for its ability to cleanse the blood, organs and gastrointestinal tract.
Because it is also high in saponin, wheatgrass offers excellent support to the lymphatic system, helping to carry away hundreds and thousands of toxins from the cells of the body.
Wheatgrass has high amino acid content. You may have heard the expression before that – amino acids are the building blocks of protein. They are absolutely essential to our growth and cell regeneration. Wheatgrass juice is a complete protein and contains, amongst others, the following amino acids: arginine, serine, absenisic, lysine, aspartic acid, glycine, alanine, methionine, leucine, tryptophane, phenylalanine, and valine.
Wheatgrass fights and protects against illness. Organic wheatgrass powders and juices are an extremely effective way of boosting the body’s immune system to fight against and recover from illnesses and ailments. Wheatgrass contains most of the B vitamins and vitamins C, E, H and K. It also contains several active enzymes which play a major role in breaking down fats, undertaking biological functions and assist hugely in weight loss. Of the 90 minerals found, many of these are very alkalizing and include calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and iron.
Many of the health benefits of wheatgrass stem from the fact that it is a living food. Being highly anti-bacterial, consuming wheatgrass will help to alkalize and detoxify the lymph and blood cells, helping the body to rebuild and transport toxins out of the body quickly and effectively.
Again, coming back to the chlorophyll content of wheatgrass, this can protect the body from carcinogens more effectively than any other food. Studies conducted on animals have shown that wheatgrass consumption has reduced the absorption of a number of very serious carcinogens whilst strengthening cells, detoxifying the liver and neutralizing polluting elements within the blood.
These are just some of the cleansing benefits of wheatgrass, and we have barely scratched the surface with regards to listing its nutritional content. Put most simply, whether you are looking to undertake a formal cleanse, or simply try to add more nutrition to your diet – these reasons alone are enough to consider adding wheatgrass to your daily lifestyle.

Wheatgrass is one of the best sources of living chlorophyll available. It can be taken orally and as a colon implant without toxic side effects. It is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment. Chlorophyll is anti-bacterial and can be used inside and outside the body as a healer. 8 Science has proven that chlorophyll arrests growth and development of unfriendly bacteria. Wheatgrass rebuilds the bloodstream and restore fertility. Wheatgrass is a superior detoxification agent compared to carrot juice and other fruits and vegetables. It is the equivalent of 350 pounds of carrot, lettuce and celery. It cures acne and even helps to remove scars after it has been ingested for seven to eight months. It acts as a detergent in the body and is used as a body deodorant. A small amount of wheatgrass in the human diet helps prevents tooth decay and pulls poisons from the gums. Wheatgrass is good for skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis. Wheatgrass keeps the hair from graying. Wheatgrass improves the digestive system. Pour green juice over your body in a tub of warm water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Wheatgrass increases and sustains energy naturally. Wheatgrass detoxifies and cleanses the body and strengthens the immune system. It is a natural source of antioxidants to help repair damaged cells Wheatgrass is an excellent source of beta carotene, folic acid and vitamin C, gluten free and vegan

How would you use the powder? Either take in some water (I imagine it doesn't taste very good like this) or can you put in smoothies? Also, does this have the same benefit as raw wheat grass?

I just bought some recently and filled my own capsules which hold 1/4 tsp. + each. Or it can be mixed in water with a little bit of the new sugar-free 'drink' sticks (the ones that use Stevia for a sweetener).

We just received out first order of wheat grass yesterday-i made smoothies with orange juice frozen peaches and added wheat grass to the smoothies. The kids could taste the wheat grass-i put it in my orange juice this morning and did not taste it as much. (also, even though the kids could taste the wheat grass in the smoothies it wasnt strong enough to keep them from drinking all of it.) We will continue to experiment til we find the very best way to drink our wheat grass.
