Uva Ursi is an excellent herb for urinary infections. It works best taken as a tea (mix in some peppermint to improve the taste).

Uva ursi is an astringent herb with strong affinity for the urinary system. It has been used to help correct bedwetting, bladder diseases, cystitis, kidney congestion and infections of the kidneys and urinary tract. It is also said to have the ability to dissolve kidney stones. Due to the proximity of the prostate to the urinary tract in males, it has also been used in prostate remedies. It acts to disinfect the urinary tract and stimulate the production of urine.

Beta-carotene, present in generous quantities in uva ursi, is known to stimulate the production of epithelial cells. Ursolic acid has antiseptic properties and the flavonoids have spasmolytic properties on the smooth muscles which help reduce reactions to pain stimulus in urinary tract infections and increase renal volume in inflamed renal tubules. The flavonoids are also antiseptic and diuretic agents.

Uva ursi fruit contains bitter compounds that are antiseptic and increase the flow of urine. It also contains astringent compounds that shrink inflamed tissue. It has been used to treat urinary tract infections, kidney stones, cystitis, nephritis, hemorrhoids and diarrhea.
