The Back Cover

"Effective treatments are available - But you are not likely to learn of these treatments from your child's doctor. You will learn about them, however, in the pages of this book."

~ Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., Director, Autism Research Institute

When Karyn Seroussi’s nineteen-month old son, Miles, was diagnosed with autism, the medical community dismissed his condition as irreversible. She and her husband took matters into their own hands, conducting extensive research on the Web, in medical papers, and even in the lab where Miles’ dad worked as a scientist.

They traced the onset of the symptoms to a recent round of vaccinations, when Miles' immune system appeared to falter. Further detective work led them to realize that vaccinations coincided with the digestive disorder and autistic regression in a growing subtype of children with autism.

Unraveling the Mystery of Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder is not only the riveting story of one family’s quest to treat a son’s illness – it’s an inspiring, triumphant account of their search for answers.

Empowering themselves with medical information and an intimate knowledge of Miles’ illness, they defied the odds, and developed a treatment plan that reversed his autism and benefited countless others with the same subtype of the disorder.

"Karyn Seroussi offers us a researcher’s insight, with a mother’s touch, into what my be the greatest issue for America’s children – the reasons for the recent epidemic of autism. The book reads as much like a detective novel, a personal diary, and an Internet chat room as it does as fine, critical assessment of this complex disorder."

~ Jeff Bradstreet, M.D., Director, Autism Research Center, Palm Bay, Florida, and the father of a six-year-old recovering from autism

"Karyn Seroussi’s good sense and her ability to sort out fact from fiction make her the perfect person to tell the story of autism research. Add to that a son who got better and a scientist husband who helped figure out why."

~ Lisa S. Lewis, Ph.D., author of Special Diets for Special Kids

From our Mailbox

Hi, I just wanted to share a testimonial with you regarding the book that you promote Unraveling the Mystery of Autism and PDD.

When my son was nearly 3 years old we were told he had autism. He spoke only 5-10 words when he wanted to and most days were spent in silence. He rocked wildly in a rocking chair, walked on tip toes, made weird sounds, lights and ceiling fans had to be on at all times, beds had to be stripped every day, life was difficult. He didn’t understand no and I couldn’t make him understand no or obey like my other children, no matter how hard I tried.

I cried out to God for my son. I went to the bookstore to get a book that I had researched and they were out of it, but they had Unraveling the Mystery… and I bought it. Within one week I went and bought everything to try the diet even though he had no apparent digestive problems. After one week of being on the diet very strict, I woke up and there were no lights on and no ceiling fans running. He didn’t strip the beds. He stopped wildly rocking in the chair. He was much easier to control. I heard him talking down the hall and I went to see if it was him and he was saying the names of animals in a book that he was holding that I had been trying to get him to say for months! I was rejoicing and thanking God for bringing my son back to me! Within 30 days he had gained every word that he had lost back plus 30 more new words! Praise God.

In April, my son will be on the diet (GFCF) for 2 years, very strict. He’s happy and healthy. He speaks in full sentences, attends a typical preschool with no support (preschool is part of his therapy, he will be home-schooled), he is potty trained, counts to 20 and knows numbers to 40, knows all letters and their sounds, knows colors and shapes, loves 50 piece puzzles and tractors, can almost dress himself completely and the list goes on.

I have promoted this diet for autistic children, but it is unbelievable the people that will not give it a chance and are so skeptical.

I thank God for it; my son will have a life because of it. My son is still autistic but you can hardly tell anymore, most people never know. He is a blessing to us and oh yeah, he’ll be 5 in June. He’s made good progress. Praise God!

Thanks for listening!
D.
