As a general rule, we can always find something to complain about. If everything in life is going great, then there’s always the weather to find fault with: It’s too cold or too hot, too rainy or too sunny… You get the picture? I am no exception when it comes to complaining. For example, the other day I awoke to the sound of rain on the roof and immediately thought, “Ugh, what a dreary day! Why can’t the sun just shine? My car is going to be covered with mud, and my hair will be frizzy all day.”

Normally, I can appreciate and enjoy the rain. I have many fond memories when, as a child, my friend and I loved to go out and get as muddy as possible after a big rain. When I grew older, the rain meant I could take a day off because I worked on a roofing crew. So, rainy days have always been my catch-up time doing all those things I wouldn’t be doing if it were nice outside. So, why wasn’t I thankful when I heard the rain? What was different about this particular morning? I figured it must simply be the rainy day blues, and a cup of something warm to drink would be just the thing to help drive them away.

These kinds of days is what The Blues Brew was created for. Sometimes, when you’re having that gray day, or just feeling down in the dumps, a good warm cup of pleasant tasting tea can help. And, if that tea happens to contain antidepressant and stress relieving herbs, all the better! The Blue’s Brew contains a mixture of Lemon Balm, Lemongrass, Red Raspberry leaf, Oatstraw, and Elderberry. Combined, these make a delicious antidepressant and stress-relieving tea: Just the thing to bring a little cheer to a cloudy day!

Lemon Balm is a nerve-soothing and stomach-settling herb. It has a wonderful lemon scent and adds a pleasant taste to this particular tea. It is used to calm tension, raise the spirits, and relieve depression, insomnia, nervousness, and tension headaches. It also helps with digestive problems, especially those stress-related.

Lemongrass has an unmistakable scent you can almost always identify when it is used in a tea. It has also been used to treat indigestion and anxiety. With its mild sedative properties, it’s an effective relaxant for those under stress or suffering from insomnia.

Red Raspberry leaf, like most herbs, can be used for numerous different things. In this case it is a nourishing herb used to help treat fatigue. Lack of energy is a very common problem, and I love finding healthy things to build my energy level. Red Raspberry also adds a delightful taste.

Oatstraw has a subtle flavor that you will hardly be able to notice in this blend, yet it has an important role. It is another herbal answer for anxiety and mood swings. Because it is rich in calcium and magnesium, it can be used for both physical and nervous fatigue, while helping to fight depression as well.

Elderberry adds flavor while helping boost the immune system. Sometimes a cold rainy day can bring with it a chill that becomes a full blown cold or even the flu. Elderberry is used to fight against these problems and, if consumed in advance, can even help stop these issues from evolving.

So, next time you are having a “blue” day, pull out some of this natural antidepressant tea and make a warm cup of this unique blend. Watch it put the smile back on your face!

This blend is my favorite! i love the lemony smell and taste. This i usually the first herbal tea i introduce to anyone who "doesn't like tea". They all have loved it so far! I drink this almost everyday. I mix it with the SOS for PMS tea during essential times of the month. Thank you for this yummy blend!
