The re-cleanable Super Sterasyl™ filter elements remove suspended solids, parasites, cysts and pathogenic bacteria and reduce organic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, SOCs, VOCs and foul tastes and odors. These filter elements are produced using the latest ceramic techniques to provide a hollow porous ceramic which is fired at a temperature in excess of 1000C. They are designed to operate with water flow going from the outside to the inside of the element. Each element has a unique domed ceiling assuring that leakage cannot occur, which may happen with capped filters.
The ceramic shell exhibits a strictly controlled pore structure, so as to provide efficient sub-micron filtration, a proven defense against hard shelled parasites, as well as removing other less harmful, but equally unpleasant debris, such as rust and dirt. The bore of the filter contains granular activated carbon that aids in the reduction of chlorine and reduces organic chemicals along with improving the color, taste, and odor of the source water. The filter needs to be kept in a place where the temperature is between 40 – 100 F for proper filtration.
The Sterasyl™ ceramic contains pure silver. This silver is a material designed to significantly inhibit bacteriological mitosis grow through. The result is that bacterial growth is inhibited from occurring within this ceramic element (which is possible with the other ceramic filter elements). This silver content insures that filtered water contains levels well below those required by international standards. Because of the silver, Sterasyl™ filter elements do not require sterilization after cleaning.
Super Sterasyl™ ceramic filters are manufactured to the following international standards and have been tested and approved by the following independent bodies or agencies:

I took a trip to Mexico some years back for about two months. I used this type of water filter for all of my drinking water needs. For two months all of my drinking water was local water sources through this water filter. Never once did I experience intestinal problems. My wife is from the Philippines. When we go there even the so-called filtered water makes me and Her sick. With a similar ceramic filter I am able to use the tap water through the filter for all of my drinking and cooking needs without getting sick.
