The versatile Royal Berkey water filter is the ideal system for use at home with large families, travel, outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies.
We all know that clean drinking water is a part of the foundation to good physical health. Nothing can substitute for that.
Today, obtaining this whole-some drinking water may be harder than one might expect. Water may contain chlorine, lead, high levels of harmful bacteria, and other unwanted contaminants. Sometimes, these contaminants produce unpleasant tastes and odors, but often, they are undetectable by our senses. Even bottled water can contain these same contaminants, and can be expensive.
The British Berkefeld Water Filtration Systems are the ultimate in water filtration. They're used world-wide for over 150 years to provide virtually the most delicious, sparkling clean water possible. This system is the most advanced passive water filter available. It removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts, chemicals including herbicides, pesticides, foul tastes and odors, and reduces heavy metals without removing the healthful and nutritional minerals your body needs!
Other filtration systems are inferior. Most do not remove pathogenic bacteria and many remove beneficial minerals from the water as well. In addition, the Royal Berkey is powerful enough to filter raw, untreated water from sources like lakes, streams, rivers and ponds.
Contaminants are captured on and within the micro-porous filtering element and are separated from the water. Each durable and efficient self-sterilizing element can be cleaned with a toothbrush or scrub pad and will last for 6,000 gallons.
Its stainless steel construction and easy to assemble design has made it the choice of thousands, including missionaries, campers, home owners, emergency agencies and the preparedness community.
The chambers and base join together so it is convenient to transport even while it is filtering water. Each unit holds 3.25 gallons and filters at the rate of up to 8 gallons per hour (with 4 elements).
It comes available with 2 or 4 Black Berkeys OR Super Sterasyl Ceramic Filtration Elements and sets up in minutes. Simply screw in the filtering elements and spigot, snap the chambers and base together and you are ready to filter! These filters work by gravity, so electricity is not involved.
For those of you who only have city water available, this filter is a great way to get rid of the excess chemicals and dead bacteria found in your water as a result of the chemicals.
Those with access to well or spring water will find it filters out all the excess minerals that give the water an odor and/or funny taste.
We have also known missionaries over the years that have used these water filters overseas with great success. Many have given it raving reviews. No matter where you live, this will guarantee you pure drinking water at any time.

I just received my Berkey water filter I love it. I have been buying bottled water for 20 years I can now drink my own water and the Berkey will have paid for itself in under a year Thanks a million.

I recently purchased a Royal Berkey water filter system. I am very happy with the service and the product I received. I liked it so much I told a friend at work who was looking for a water purification system and he seemed very interested in the Berkey.

I finally bought a Berkey Water Filter after several weeks of studying the issue and comparing other systems. In summary, the Berkey is a proven product and in wide use, has superior filtering with the documentation to prove it, is portable, and very versitile given the option to use up to four filters at a time. I chose to buy from More Than Alive due to the bonus items offered with the purchase of a Berkey; I went with the PF-2 Arsenic and Fluoride Filters. My Berkey arrived promptly and, like a kid on Christmas morning, I immediately set it up for use. My family filters city water through it and we noticed a vast improvement in taste, plus peace of mind knowing that we are one step closer to self-sufficiency in case of disaster or emergency.

At the time of this review, we've used our Berkey for 1 year. We highly recommend it!
Right away, we noticed how much different (better tasting) our drinking water is since we switched to the Berkey. Prior to this we had a PUR faucet mounted system, the Berkey does more. We all drink more water. When we had neighbors over, we encouraged them to taste the Berkey water. They were use to our city's tap water...they could taste the different & now want a Berkey.
Tip: we figured out a way to get our elements working at their best...which was after scrubbing & re-priming them, we laid it down in a dishpan of tap water. Keep submersed in water while the other elements were being prepared (scrubbed & primed). Once all the elements are ready, we take them out of the water & install them into the Berkey chamber.

We have a Big Berkey and LOVE it! We have found it easy to use and clean, and very economical. We love the flouride filters you can use with it also. However, the filters we have are an older version that seems to be replaced on your website within the last year or so.
I have noticed the filters look different now and have found many complaints about the durability and filtering ability of these newer filters. People that used to endorse your filters no longer do because they say the new versions DO NOT work as well as the old ones.I was wondering what your response to these claims are.
I was wanting to add two more black filters to my unit as we only have two now, but am hesitant to spend my money on a product that does not live up to its claims and is not durable. Do you have any plans to go back to your old, better working filters?
