Vitamin C (like all vitamins) is a substance that the body does not produce, but that it needs for normal function. Vitamin C is possibly the most important antioxidant and is described in much research as protecting cells and tissues in the body (including capillaries in the brain and eye).

Vitamin C alone is sometimes not completely usable by the body, and several means of modifying C itself have become popular in order to increase bioavailability. One of the most interesting findings is that "bioflavonoids" (which were initially thought to be vitamins) seem to increase the ability of living tissues to use vitamin C. At the same time, bioflavonoids have greater anti-oxidant properties in the presence of vitamin C.

Rosehip C uses a base of vitamin C, Rosehip powder and Acerola powder. Combining whole plant powders that are naturally rich in vitamin C with plain vitamin C powder is believed to help the body identify the vitamin C, and use it more effectively. Citrus bioflavonoids and rutin are added to strengthen the anti-oxidant qualities of vitamin C.

To further potentiate vitamin C, we take it with Bee Immune which is pure Bee Propolis: a powerful bioflavonoid-rich anti-oxidant in its own right.

I always have this on hand no matter what time of year. Remember, a good way to make sure you are getting enough vitamen C is to take it until you reach bowel tolerance then cut it back a bit. If I am coming down with a cold this often means 2,000 - 3,000 mg every couple of hours. I find so often folks are not taking nearly enough when they have an infection coming on. Taking high doses of vitamen C and lots of garlic has kept us away from the doctor when those around us are taking antibiotics left and right.
