Bulk Herb Blends: Healing Herbal Bath

Quantity:

There's nothing like a warm, herbal bath to soothe and relax you after the pain and stress of giving birth. Not only can it relax, but it can speed the healing process in your body, especially if you tore and/or had stitches. But, even if you're fortunate enough not to tear, a bath can still do wonders for the bruising and stretching that took place. After my birth, I had a wonderfully soothing herbal bath that totally relaxed and revived me. I tore slightly and taking that bath and a couple more the first week caused me to heal quickly without any problems at all. That's what I call enjoyable medicine!

Herbal baths are simple and easy to prepare and they don't have to make your bathtub all messy either. Just make a strong infusion (2 tbsp. mixture per cup water) from the herbs. Measure the herbs and the water and put in a pot. Bring the herbs to a boil, and turn off the heat, letting them steep 10-20 minutes. Strain the liquid and add to the bath. Relax in there as long as you like. Water alone can soothe, but adding herbs to the bath increases the benefits tremendously.

And, even if you don't want to use herbs, just a few drops of lavender oil can be very relaxing and healing as well. A recent study concluded that the perineal area of mothers who bathed in a bath to which drops of lavender oil had been added healed much quicker than mothers who did not bathe in the lavender.
