Idaho Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) is a conifer oil distilled in northern Idaho. It has been studied for its soothing effect on muscle and body aches associated with exercise.

Historical uses:

This fir tree is tall and graceful with a perfect conical shape. Though highly regarded for its fragrant scent, the fir tree has been prized through the ages for its medicinal virtues in regards to respiratory complaints, fever, muscular and rheumatic pain. The oleoresin from the balsam fir tree has been used extensively for the external treatment of burns, sores, cuts, heart and chest pains, and for coughs.
