How Diatomaceous Earth Works

2nd: Diatomaceous Earth is very hard. On the hardness scale where diamonds are a 9, DE is a 7. This is very important, because as those millions of tiny hard and sharp DE cylinders pass through the small and large intestines, they "scrub" the walls. After only a few months of taking DE, the intestine wall is no longer coated with mucus and molds but CLEAN!! The advantages of this are:

1. Regular bowel movements (This is the #1 comment everyone makes about DE)
2. Healthier Colon. This is especially important as we get older. A clean healthy colon keeps away polyps, cancers, and ulcers. Today, many are spending thousands of dollars to get colonics to do the same thing as DE does. Many users report increased energy and needing less sleep. This is a result of all the food and nutrients that are taken in being better absorbed into the blood stream. With a coated colon--many nutrients never get absorbed.

Dosage: Take 1-2 tablespoons per day mixed in some kind of liquid or food. There is no unpleasant taste. Since it will not dissolve, stirring several times while drinking will prevent settling. Some have experienced higher energy levels, so it is probably better not to take it right before sleeping. No worry about getting too much--any excess silica not needed by the body is automatically eliminated through the blood stream, kidneys and intestines.

Diatomaceous Earth For Pets and Animals

Pets - they come in all shapes and sizes. Protect them with DE. When lightly rubbed into their coats or dusted on their premises, it is very effective against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, and birds. It can also be used as an organic wormer and will kill any worms or parasites the pets may have. When using as a de-wormer, mix the DE into their food as follows:

• Large Cats - 1 teaspoon
• Kittens - 1/4 teaspoon
• Dogs 100 lbs + - 1-2 tablespoons
• Dogs 50 - 100lbs - 1 tablespoon
• Dogs Under 50 lbs - 1 teaspoon
• Mini dogs - 1/2 teaspoon

As pets get older, they also get sore joints. With DE in their diet they will feel better. Apply to moist kennel areas to reduce odors, dry the area, and prevent pest breeding. Deodorizing and absorption are natural functions of DE, so add to kitty litter to absorb odors and keep the litter box drier.

All livestock such as Horses, Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, Chickens and others will benefit from the use of DE. It is completely safe and nontoxic.

• Calves - 4 grams in morning milk per calf or 2 oz. per day in feed
• Chickens - 5% in feed, use at full strength in dusting boxes
• Hogs - 2% of total feed ration, dust or spray on bedding and animals
• Horses - 5 ounces (1 cup) in daily feed ration
• Sheep - 1% in ground grains 1 part Diatomaceous Earth to 2 parts T-M salt
• Goats - 1% in grain, 1/2 oz per day, up to 50% in T-M salt

For large animals, DE may also be offered "free Choice" as long as dispenser is protected from the wind. Your livestock will also get the benefit of over 14 trace minerals that make up Diatomaceous Earth.

NEVER feed any other type of DIATOMACEOUS EARTH to any animal, other than the Food Grade fresh water DIATOMACEOUS EARTH by Perma-Guard.

Using Diatomaceous Earth As Organic pest control

Household Pests:
DE is a natural, organic insect killer. DE kills by physical action and not by chemical so there is NO harm to pets or humans. The tiny hard and sharp diatoms scratch off the insects waxy coating, causing it to dehydrate. Use DE for control of roaches, silverfish, ants, fire ants, bedbugs, lice, mites, spiders, earwigs, flies, fleas, box elder bugs, scorpions, crickets, and many other insects. DE can be used in and around the home, yard, animal housing, etc. Sprinkle a 2 inch wide border around the foundation of your house to prevent insects from entering. DE will not harm earthworms or beneficial soil microorganisms.

A Word about BEDBUGS
All over the United States we are seeing an outbreak of bedbugs. DE will not only kill the bedbugs you have, but will do it safely without chemicals. Remember-bed bugs cannot fly, so make sure bed is away from the wall and there is no bedding touching the floor. Surround each of the 4 legs of the bed with DE--this will kill them as they try to get on the bed the only way possible. Dust some DE on the mattress and bedding--especially in the creases. Dust DE in the carpets and in corners of room. Remove electrical outlet covers and puff some DE inside the walls. Keep this routine up for several days until no more bed bugs.

Plant Pests:
For control of aphids, white fly, beetles, loopers, mites, snails, slugs, leaf hoppers, and others, use DE inside your home, greenhouse or outdoors on fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains and grass, up to and including day of harvest. For dry application of DE use a duster and cover entire plant, apply to both top and bottom of leaf. For young plants, as little as two pounds per acre may be adequate. For larger plants, five lbs. per acre is probably sufficient. DE will need reapplication after a rain. Applies best when there is dew or after a light rain. It is a long lasting, effective powder. The insects can not build up resistance. DE can be sprayed or whitewashed by mixing 1 cup DE with 1/2 Gallon of water. Stir frequently and spray/paint trees, yards, and fences. DE will not harm earthworms or beneficial soil microorganisms. Wear a dust mask when applying large amounts of it.

Stored Grain:
Just add 7-10 lbs. of DE to each ton of grain as it is conveyed into the storage. When added to grain, it not only makes it flow better, DE kills the bugs that are present and protects the grain from further invasions. Bugs can not become immune because they are killed by physical action, not chemical.

Household Uses for Diatomaceous Earth

• Metal Cleaner:
  Make a paste with DE and water to make a metal polish. DE also makes a very inexpensive soft scrub for the shower, sink and faucets.
• Face Mask and Cleanser:
  Mix DE and water together until you have made a paste. Apply to the face with circular scrubbing motion until face is fully covered. Leave on face for approx. 2 min. and then wash off with warm water. Your face will be fully exfoliated and toned for pennies!!! Mix DE with your favorite cleanser and you will have cleaner, smoother skin.
• Teeth Cleaner:
  Sprinkle a small amount on your favorite brand of toothpaste and brush as you normally would. You will notice that your teeth look and feel "Just went to the Dentist" Clean.

I purchased this and started to use it as a detox. And it works great! I take charcoal about an hour after DE so that the charcoal takes away the waste that the DE is scraping away.

hi I wanted to say thanks for the timely shipping for my DE. so far, I have noticed that I have been sleeping much better than I used to.. and I definitely contribute that to DE. as for anything else, it may be too soon to tell and I also want to try increasing my dosage a little to see if it makes even more of a difference. My daughter recently contracted pinworms..yuck!!..from daycare. I gave her the meds and they worked,however two weeks later they were back. I researched natural remedies and discovered D.E. I ordered 10lbs. and informed my Husband and my Children that we would be taking a spoonful of "special dirt" daily from now on. Hubby read this article and was excited to start. It's been 3 weeks now and no more nasty worms. We all feel great and I've even lost 7 lbs. so far. The pets are taking it too!

I have been using the product as well as my sister too. It has helped with arthritis & a few more other things stiil taking to see what else it can help with. My sister has gotten a new growth of hair from the DE and she is excited. My dog gets it on her food in the morning & seems to be working on her coat.

Six years ago I was given Satin drugs for high cholesterol, I had a severe reaction to them that has taken years to get over, I have battled the cholesterol since. This January it was once again very high, total cholesterol was 324, triglycerides 616. I decided to give the Diatomaceous Earth a try. I just had my levels checked again this week and after only 10 weeks my total cholesterol had dropped 91 points to 233 and my triglycerides dropped 370 points to 246. I am thrilled! I finally have hope of getting this under control without prescription drugs.

I've had pin worms for about a year and they have been driving me crazy. The prescription my physician gave me cleared up the itching for one night but came back after second night.

I have been taking DE since Jan. 2010. I am taking 1 tab. a day. In June I got a rash like poison ivy on my leg that had a big blister the size of a quarter & another smaller blister plus a rash it took about a mon. to go away. Now again about a mon. later I got another rash like poison ivy on my arm, no blisters but itches really bad. I thought that I would quit taking the DE to see if it is causing it.
I don't want to quit taking it but I don't like getting the rashes either.
Has any one else got a rash something like poison ivy from DE?

I am looking for somethin to help with my skin and getting rid of acne. First of all i have to ask if anyone knows if this will effect my birth control??? i havent been able to figuer that out and i have looked and looked. i have been taking this stuff for about a week and a half now. my skin seems to be breaking out a little more. i cant figure out if my skin is just purging the stuff out of my pores or if i am having a bad reaction to it. My birth control helps my skin somewhat and i am worried that the DE could be causing my birth control to be less effective which is causing my skin to breakout??? I just dont know. Plus i dont wanna get pregnant!! I have been very regular. but other than that i havent noticed any difference. anyone seen any difference with their skin? And if so, how long did it take to see it and did you breakout for a while before it got better? any info would be great!! Thanks

Does anyone know if there is any harm in taking Diatomaceous earth if you have digestive issues such as GERD, ulcers, etc.. Would it interfere with acid reflux medications? I have started taken Diatomaceous earth in hopes that it would fix my stomach issues and I would no longer have to be on medication for acid reflux. Any comments are appreciated.

If DE will kill all the parasites, bacteria, etc., in your body, and then flush them out, will it also then kill the bacteria in a septic tank that has had DE laced feces flushed into it? Septic tanks operate by bacterial action. I haven't seen any information on the web addressing this issue.

Has anyone used DE topically to rid skin of parasites? They are also in my eyelids and nostrils and trachea...their bites are sharp for just a moment...but their crawling on or under the skin is maddening.
I know of no miticide effective and safe for human use!
Wild Bird mites are a genera all of their own...they are arthropods different from all the usually listed pests....fleas, spiders, bed bugs, silverfish, cockroaches, scabies and garden pests.

I have a rash by my liver and that area hurt like crazy. Plus it felt like a kidney stone was flushing out. Both areas were so bad i had to take a pain pill to sleep. i was taking two tablespoons with 8 ounce of water. any answers for this. Or could this be toxins comming out of my skin.

I have been reading about Diatomaceous Earth and its benifits. I can tell you it has helped me greatly.
Due to a stroke I was bedfast. Having Lupus and Lymphadema also made my skin very tender and easily damaged. Wound Care at the hospital worked 4 months and still there was no great show of improvement. I ordered my Diatomaceous Earth, I used it dry on most of my skin, but on the really bad places I mixed it with water to form a paste. 3 days and you can really see the improvement! Even the staff at the wound center were amazed.Thanks

Which bacteria does DE kill? If DE kills off too much good bacteria, then that is a bad thing. Bad bacteria can take over. For example, if someone gets the c-diff bacteria the person becomes really sick.

I started using DE for over a month now(& just started my hubby on it too, also sneak it smoothies for my kids)...At first I had headaches for a week (possibly die-off symptoms from the detox). My hair & nails are stronger, my skin is less dry, my complexion looks great except I still get the odd breakout, and my energy level is way up (be sure to take it in the morning because of this). And for my little dog, he brought in fleas and were biting me bad and so sprinkled DE onto all areas in my house and got rid of them all. I have been putting a teaspoonful into his dog-food and he has the most beautiful coat. I can't say enough good things about DE...we are definitely onto a good thing here! I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS KILLS THE GOOD BACTERIA AS WELL AS THE BAD (I wonder if we should be taking a pro-biotic)

Will DE kill scabies on humans by sprinkling a film all over the body, if so how often should it be applied daily and for how many days in a row to insure wiping this outbreak out of our house? Does it need to be mixed with a carrier agent to effectively get deep into our skin?

A great way to get more silica throughout the day... I fill up a cup of water and add 2 Tbsp of DE, let it settle to the bottom, then occasionally sip the cloudy liquid above the settled stuff.

I started off taking 1 tablespoon a day and am now taking 2 tablespoons... Getting some results, but I guess it can take some time with so much accumulated gunk in the system as it were. Would it be OK to up the dosage a bit? I mean I'm 270 pounds and (among other things) would like to lose some more weight. Given my size I was thinking it might be OK to take a bit more and was hoping to get some advice on that. Thanks!

PLEASE, NO JABBING COMMENTS CONCERNING MY COMMENTS. On several attempts to better my health I have added DE to my diet and have failed to consume enough liquid, at least for my body, along with my dosage of DE. My mistake resulted in (((extremely))) severe stomach pain and bloating! So, to those of you who have taken time to share your comment about the need to drink plenty of liquid along with the DE...I say thank you very much for your generous input. To those of you who are new to DE, please follow their advice. My initial mistake was that I was drinking PLENTY of liquid but it was the wrong kind of liquid. I was drinking TONS of green tea, though very good for me, but it was also very dehydrating since it caused me to "pee" lots more. The drying effects of DE plus "green tea pee" are not a good mix (*_*). GOOD HEALTH TO ALL!

As with any product that is claimed to be safe and effective the claims are simply that, claims. Each of us are different and each of us will have a different result. 
As in all things it seems a lot of hype is associated with anything new. That makes for some fabulous marketing but eventually the hype gives way to common sense. Not long ago I asked a practitioner of homeopathic medicine a question. I asked at what point does any given treatment NOT show a result? I even provided a scale of health with "A" being perfect health and "F" being nearly beyond hope. His answer was surprising. He said that he sleeps well at night. That's great! But I didn't ask him how well he slept. 
So what did his simple answer tell me? It told me that whatever he gives his patients works! How could anything possibly fail to do what whatever he gave them? The problem is is many cases is that people naturally seek out cures rather then treatments or prevention. Does diatomaceous earth do what it's supposedly does effectively? Of course it does and how well it does it depends on the severity of the problem. I've noticed that with practically every treatment either natural or otherwise there was also a change in diet, and increase in physical activity as well as a better attitude. Diatomaceous earth is only a part of a much broader change in lifestyle. 
I really loved the comment by a young lady who was concerned about any side effects diatomaceous earth may have on the birth control pills she was taking. First off young Miss, if you are worried about getting pregnant you should avoid the activity that results in pregnancy. Stop screwing around! That was easy wasn't it? And besides, if your concerned about keeping your body free from drugs and chemicals why are you taking drugs and chemical? A lot, if not most people will become suspicious of the food they eat and the world around them but throw all care to the wind when it comes to having fun.

Hi,

Started taking DE 8 days ago. like the effects. pain in knees reduced. do not need ibuprophen(sp?) any more. BTW reduction of pain came after the 2nd day. age spots faded after the 1st day. initially took 1 heaping teaspoon in the morning (in water), followed by another at around 4:00 pm. have upped the quantity to 2 heaping tsp in the morning and afternoon.

have noted a slight tingling sensation in the middle of my back, which comes and goes. not too concerned yet. my wife on the other hand took 1 tsp in the morning and a half teaspoon in the afternoon. severe internal cramping. did not take DE the next day and it went away. now taking half a tsp in the morning and afternoon. no more cramping. will up the quantity once her body is use to DE (if it ever does). have not notice any benefits yet (only on the half tsp regiment for 2 days).

anyone one else notice any side effects from its usage?

it has taken a range of 1 hour to 2 days to kill ticks. I would pull them off our dog, place them in a jar with DE on the bottom, and let them "swim" around in it. The ticks have been male deer ticks and I think male dog ticks.

We have 3 old cats, one has suffered for months with what we thought were hair balls.Nothing helped the coughing or being sick all over the house.Finally figured out it was worms.

I went to my local health shop and asked for something that was effective for parasite control. The naturopath recommended DE, but said to take it slowly at first, just half a teaspoon once a day and gradually increase it over a few weeks until I got to a tablespoon each day. I was skeptical and concerned, mainly because it doesn't seem to be approved by any recognised authority for human consumption. But I thought I'd give it a go, I have heaps of problems with psoriasis and a condition called hidradenitis suppurativa, which is multiple carbuncles. The first thing I noticed was how much more energy I had after taking it. Unbelievable, I'm just so energised. I can't say how my skin is going yet, too early to tell. But I'll keep you all informed. I would however feel more comfortable if I knew that this product had been classified as safe by some authority. Going by testimonials is nice, but still, who can say what the long term effects of DE are.

I want to try DE for candidiasis, but need to find out if it stays in the stomach/colon area or could also come out through the bladder. My candida attacked my bladder and left it very sensitive and I don't want to irritate it, or worse, cause permanent damage like interstitial cystitis-which is problems with the lining of the bladder. Could the sharpness of DE affect the bladder lining?

OK, regarding my question, I just read this above the comments: "Silica can help prevent kidney stones and heal infections of the urinary tract. Important to note.... If you take too much too fast you can have die off effects...kill bad stuff too quick and make you feel ill...headaches, nausea etc. You should start out with a small amount of DE 1 tsp and drink plenty of water. Work your way up to 1 or 2 Tablespoons a day with lots of water.

DE and MSM and Spirulina will change your life.

My husband and I have been taking "dirt" as we call it for about two months now, and there are myriad positive side effects.. From stronger hair, to easing of his tinnitis, to my arthritis easing up a lot. But the one I didn't expect was the normalization of blood pressure. My husband has (hereditary) high blood pressure, and I have low (like 90 - 50 range) low blood pressure. We have observed that his is consistently coming down while mine is going up. We have started using DE flea control for an experiment our holistic vet is doing. So far it seems to be slowly working. We have just done our second dusting to capture a second flea cycle. We are seeing less fleas every week. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hamsters and 1 chicken. So far so good. We have dusted all the animal bedding and our couch each week. We have washed the dogs once per week and are dusting them twice a week. We have dusted the yard once and added pine shavings and DE to the chicken coop. I am starting to see a decrease in flea activity. We have also added to their food.
My husband decided to start taking it as well. He was 6' 8" 245 pounds. A week later he is down to 236. He has had extreme detox symptoms. He started taking 1 heaping teaspoon. This may have been too much for him. Until about 6 months ago he has had a very poor diet so he may have released A LOT of toxins into his system. He has had fevers, interrupted sleep pattens, weakness, triggered migraines, chills, heat flashes, sweating, lack of appetite, mood swings, emotional out burst and host of other flu like symptoms. Luckily he is a home schooling stay at home dad so he has been able to rest when needed. I am kind of impressed with the power of the DE. I am 5 months dairy and gluten free and went through a more mild detox and had similar issues but much less severe. He is on day 7 of these intense symptoms. All DE contains crystallized silica which is non-biodegrable and harmful except it is usually less than 1% in Food Grade DE so it does no damage- Pool DE has 70+% of crstallized silica in which is why it is poisonous and should not be taken. Food Grade DE is made up of amorphous silica which is the good stuff and a mineral our bodies need. You want to buy DE that has 90+% of amorphous silica. 100% is best. Also purity is important as you don't want clay in your DE, this is an impurity sold in cheap DE. If the DE you buy is dark than there is too much clay in it. Should be white to off white in color.
After 4+ hours of doing research on DE- Food Grade Freshwater. I ordered 4lbs of DE and I just started taking DE yesterday. 1 tsp. - I really don't like the taste of it. It's gritty in my drinks and tastes like concrete or chalk. Anyone have suggestions on taking DE so I don't have to taste it?

Maybe I missed it on this page, but I did not see the information that DE has an extremely drying effect on the skin. It is important to know if you use it in your face or handle it with bare hands. Also, avoid breathing it in. Other than that, this stuff works. I am using it on and off for years. I sprinkled it under our new kitchen cabinets before installation as well as under the mattress and use it internally and on the dog bed and all over the yard for years! My dog did not catch fleas this year without us using any other treatment and he is outside except at night.

DE! Where have you been all of my life?!! I originally bought DE as a flea powder for my pets and home. I became reluctant to use chemicals on my pets and in my home when I heard my son's cat had died. He took his beloved Tito to the Vet for his "necessary annual shots and flea/tic meds". Tito was an indoor pet. Never outside. Why did he "need" all those drugs? Needless to say, my son, being a good pet owner, took Tito in. Within an hour Tito began to convulse, collapsed and died. My son was heartbroken! This will never happen in my household ever again! My pets are now chemical free and so is my home. I also began taking DE my self and have had good results! Since Aug 13, 2011, I have dropped 6-7 lbs. My bloodpressure has dropped from 140/90 to 120/75! I have more energy and I don't have the usual 2pm droopiness that used to plague me every afternoon. I have been sneaking it into my husbands morning coffee. ;) He is on all kinds of bloodpressure meds and cholesterol drugs, so I am hoping his next appointment will have better numbers! I will keep you posted on his results!
I had very good luck with DE as a flea control product. I sprinkled it all over my carpets and rubbed it into my pets fur ( 3 cats, one rat terrier) It took several weeks, but the flea population finally came to a halt, one or two fleas on the pets as of today, but I will get them! I just started taking it about 3-4 wks ago. So far, not a negative side effect, not a one! I was pretty toxic inside (from YEARS of unhealthy/pure junk food and grease eating). I have bad skin because of it-prematurely (at 26 I started getting wrinkles). I know that no visible imrovements should be seen right away, but I believe that afer a few mos. of being on it, things will start to change (someone else had a similar story and it changed her skin). Supposedly that much silica can even get rid of sun damage. We'll see, but overall, everything is great!

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with uterine cancer recently and have to go into hospital in about a month for a hysterectomy.

I've been taking about a tablespoon of DE in my morning kefir smoothie each day. Does anyone know whether I should cut the DE out prior to surgery? Does it thin the blood or do anything detrimental like that with regards to surgery?

I have been taking it for my pustular psoriasis with great results. My feet used to get incredibly sore and painful, now, they are still flaky, but they don't get sore anymore.

Anyone who knows about this surgery question, do let me know. If it does thin the blood, I'd better knock it off now.

Hi. I started taking DE at 1 tbs/day a few days ago and am now taking 2 tbs/day (at once w/ water). I have not experienced ANY negative or die off symptoms. Has anyone else experienced that? Recently, I started drinking 1 to 2 smoothies/day (1 of them green) and then eat a normal meal with my family. I thought with this amount I should feel something.? Also, I am wondering if anyone taking DE is also taking Virgin Coconut Oil? If so, do you take it together or at separate times of the day? I have been taking mine in the morning (7:00) and the DE at night (8:00). I know it's early in the process (only a few days), but I want to make sure that I'm doing things right. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just received my order of DE this afternoon (AKA ancient dirt). Since this is Day 1, I took 1 heaping teaspoon in an 8 ounce glass of OJ. I weigh 220lBS and muscular build. I suffer from Sarcoid which causes faitgue and skin rashes on occasion and can present as an arthritic condition in most people. I am hoping to come off the Prednisone and clense my system and drop down to 190LBs. Also on High blood pressure meds and Statins for Cholesteral ( I will not take any statin)

Hi there, I've been giving my two older children DE for about three weeks now (started with a teaspoon dose and gradually upped to a tablespoon, taken with water). Seemingly no problems - I had read comments above about potential constipation and wanted to avoid that! Anyway, we seem to be getting results. I suspected that my children had a chronic problem with worms (picked up, I'm sure, through school, thumbsucking, etc.) and the critters seem to be coming out (sorry to be graphic!). I have a couple of questions though: I am breastfeeding my baby (she's now 11 months old) and I know there is a comment on this thread about a nursing mother and how it's fine for your baby, but can anyone else give me reassurance that it's okay to take DE if you are breastfeeding? I'd dearly like to take it myself but am nervous about it. Also, there was a question above, about the age you can start to give children DE, but it wasn't answered. Can anyone throw any light on this?

I had a question about DE. I know some people who have been taking it for a while and they said it does wonders for them. I want to take it too, but I read that it lowers blood pressure. I have hypotension and I need to raise my blood pressure. will DE also raise my low blood pressure or will it lower it even more, causing me more problems?

I went to my local feed store to buy some but they don't carry pure DE. They only carry some stuff with brown particles mixed in with it. It said it was for chickens. I wonder why they won't offer the pure food grade? Is this type ok to eat? Or only the pure stuff? It was all food grade.

Since no tests have been with DE on human subjects and only farm animals, then to start, we should ask the farm animals owners if they ingest DE.

Has anyone asked any farmers if they eat DE?

I take my DE with a glass of hemp milk and non GMO Trader Joe's chocolate syrup. So far so good. I don't really have any aches or pains due to my non GMO, non chemical, non processed food and anti-inflammatory diet, but my hair is dry and my nails have always been thin. Hope this helps. I does make me even more energetic than I already was. At 46, I have way more energy than my 20 year old son.

Does anybody know if this can get rid of wrinkles? I read someone say it took away brown spots, and made them look better without makeup, than they used to with makeup. Hmmm...I am prematurely aging badly, I'm only 29, and have had deep forehead wrinkles and crow's feet since age 26. Hopefully this stuff will help. New to DE. But I like what I read and am hearing, so far. However, the only DE I was able to find locally was "Carl Pool brand Earth Sense Diatamaceous Earth - Anti-caking codex food grade". I do understand that for human use and pets- only food grade must be be used. But, is there a difference in brands ? The stuff I have is a tan colored powder. Shouldn't it be white ? I dusted one of my dogs, but this DE doesn't seem to be as good as what many folks here on your site are saying. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I have been taking DE for about one year I feel great. I have not been sick or had the flu or a cold the whole year. When i got a two year old standard poodle last january, she was so thin and hyper no amount of walks or runs was enough for her. I started her on DE and it took four months for her to put on some weight. I suspect she had a bad case of worms. Now she is healthy, calm etc. My sister feeds her horse ,goats, chickens, dog and cats DE. They are very healthy and have beautiful coats. The chickens have nice feathers and nice strong egg shells. My sister had IBS and had become so thin and weak until she started taking DE now she is healthy, strong and energetic. I have my adult children and my grandchildren all taking DE. In fact I suggest to everyone I know to take DE. Some are a little slower than others but once friends and family see how good you feel and look everyone sooner or later jumps on the healthy band wagon. We are all teachers of what we have learned (good and bad). Health =Happy good health to all.

I have been taking DE for about one year I feel great. I have not been sick or had the flu or a cold the whole year. When i got a two year old standard poodle last january, she was so thin and hyper no amount of walks or runs was enough for her. I started her on DE and it took four months for her to put on some weight. I suspect she had a bad case of worms. Now she is healthy, calm etc. My sister feeds her horse ,goats, chickens, dog and cats DE. They are very healthy and have beautiful coats. The chickens have nice feathers and nice strong egg shells. My sister had IBS and had become so thin and weak until she started taking DE now she is healthy, strong and energetic. I have my adult children and my grandchildren all taking DE. In fact I suggest to everyone I know to take DE. Some are a little slower than others but once friends and family see how good you feel and look everyone sooner or later jumps on the healthy band wagon. We are all teachers of what we have learned (good and bad). Health =Happy good health to all.

I don't see anywhere that they mention how much of this to take, for humans. Am I missing that?

Also, we buy wheat berries in 25 or 50lb bags from a co-op and would like to treat them. Wondering how to do this?

I have been using DE for about a month,,my stomach feels so much better,,I have been diagnosed with IBS,leaky gut,all kinds of stomach issues,,it has been great,,but Ive noticed this week that when I was my hair,,it smells real bad,,would DE been doing this!

When I originally started with DE, I was researching natural remedies for worming kittens, and came across several articles and websites touting the use of DE. I started use in August of 2011 with me and the kitten taking it daily, the kitten did benefit from the products ability to kill off worms, and now I' am seeing the benefits on me. When I started in August I had been losing hair along my hairline (most noticable), I had large patches of hairlessness on my legs, and my nails were very ridgy, and bendable. It is December 2011, my hairline is restored widows peak and even hairline that has been long lost. My legs have hair in the patches that for a 2 1/2 decades has long been gone. My nails are losing the ridges, becoming shiney, smooth, and have a strength that I have never had. No telling yet, of other benefits, but if my hair and nails are growing back better than ever ,my body must be garnering other positive effects. I will continue the use of this product, and if I notice other healthy affects I will report back, try it folks.

I bought and used DE about 3 weeks ago, for the purpose of getting rid of bedbugs. We've spent over $2,000.00 in exterminating fees (excuse me WASTED $2,000.00) for OVER A YEAR! I've NEVER been more pleased in any recommendation from a friend, in my life! W/in 2 weeks I am not seeing anymore bugs. OF ANY KIND!!
This dust is safe for my family, my pets, MY HOUSE, any food it might have fallen upon.
It's even Healthy FOR ME!! I think we've tapped into a miracle of some sorts here.
I haven't taken it for myself yet, but I am starting tonight. I can't WAIT to see the results!!

Something funny with DE:

My friends love baking and when I gave him a test package DE he thought it must have been baking powder of flour.

Weeks later they told me that the bread was not what they expected. We share food alot and they must have thought whats wrong.

Anyhow never try to make bread out of DE.

It is amazing for all other stuff.

Has anyone used de for diverticulitis or cdiff? My partner was just diagnosed with cdiff after being treated with strong antibiotics for diverticulitis. she has had several recurrences but we are now unclear of which issue! She is now on 3 antibiotics (antibiotic caused the cdiff) and I cant even find any natural diet info for her.
also DE any good for crohns disease? my issue.

Has ANYBODY found any real long term studies regarding human ingestion of DE? I read that some cultures have been using/consuming DE for centuries, but can't find anything that says long term DE ingestion has absolutely no negative side effects. Would love to hear from folks that have been adding this to their diet for 20 + years or more.

I want to start trying DE sooo bad, but adding microscopic "glass shards" to my diet without hesitation seems a little foolish to me.

Hi, I just recently started taking DE. I've started out at about 3tbs. I put it in my smoothie and I drink lots of water throughout the day. My skin is now breaking out pretty bad. It's looking a lot worse than it has in a while. Is this because of the DE? Am I taking too much? Someone please help...

I have been on DE for about 4 weeks. I love how I feel, but about 4 days ago I got a yeast infection and I can't get rid of it. I've tried Monistat 1day and 3 day and I have take 2 Diflucans. Is it possible that DE kills the good bacteria with the bad bacteria? If it does do I have to go off the DE? Thanks

I purchased food grade DE about a month ago. I started taking it immediately and I also gave it to my dogs. I took it about a week and for the entire time I couldn't stop going to the bathroom. My butt was pretty sore and itchy. I also got a poison ivy like rash on the bottom of my foot. The intense itching was horrible. I use apple cidar vinegar on everything and that seem to help. I also broke out all across upper back (shoulder to shoulder). I stopped using the DE to give my body a break. I plan on trying again, because I very much believe in the product. The dogs and I will start again tomorrow. The gas it gives the dogs is pretty rank. I gave half the dose recommended to ease them into the program, but decided to quit when I stopped. Good luck to all of you trying this product. I still believe in it.

Oh yeah, my dog has a UTI and I'm not sure if it's related to the DE, but I believe it's not...... so, with Colloidal silver and DE I am hoping his problem resolves.

Has anyone with Celiacs disease taken this product?
I also have Candida and Parasites but I am afraid the sharpness could further do damage to the microvilli of my small intestine.

I am once again amazed at the effectiveness of DE. I've been on blood pressure medicines for a year now for very high BP. Little to no change in numbers in that year despite increased dosages. I've taken DE now for 4 months. I weaned myself off the prescribed meds about 3 months ago. Today I amazed the docs. 110/65. I was tested 3 times with 2 different cuffs and machines because they couldn't believe the numbers. I'm tellin' ya. This stuff works! First my cholesterol numbers achieve normal levels and now my BP. My blood tests show an alkaline level, not acidic and all my numbers are outstanding. YAY me!!

I have pretty severe Bipolar disorder and am on psychotropic meds.

How does DE interact? I am finally balanced on a med regimen and dont want to screw it up with absorbtion issues or the DE sweeping some of it away.

Screwing up with bipolar can be deadly.

Hi i was wondering if anyone here has taken DE with ceratin stomach issues they can't seem to get rid of. I have had stomach issues for a few years now and i have been to doctors taking several tests but everything comes back normal. I have had my stools checked, a colonscopy done but they have no idea whats wrong with me. I also have anemia. I was thinking i might have micro parasites cause i heard if you have those doctors wont know and your stools will come back negative. I would appreciate if anybody has any insight on this. thank you

I have about 8 pounds of DE and I am ready to start taking it. I have been a hard core (no oils) Vegan for 2 years and have no medical problems, not any more. I want to know if it is wise to take this DE at this time and if so, what should be the daily dose. I am 73 and weigh 160 (175 before the vegan change).
