Cranberries contain proanthocyanidins that can prevent the adhesion of certain bacteria associated with urinary tract infections to the urinary tract wall (including E. coli). The anti-adhesion properties of cranberry may also inhibit the bacteria associated with gum disease and stomach ulcers.
