  1. I am very happy with this product, and am placing another order today.

I also have a mare diagnosed with Cushings last year. She has been on pergolide since then, it seemed to helped at first then not so much. She had shed her winter coat this spring, then started growing it back again. After doing research and reading the many positive comments about Chaste Tree Berries, I ordered a small package (very reasonable price). As many others have said, it worked like a charm. She shed her heavy coat in about 3 weeks, and has her beautiful, glossy coat back. Thank you!

  2. Great product for Cushings horses

Posted by Unknown on 13th Dec 2013

Our horse was diagnosed with Cushing’s in January of 2012 (his ACTH levels were 102 pg/mL whereas the normal range is 9-35 pg/mL) and we immediately started his treatment with pergolide. He hated any form of it (even the syrup) and he stopped eating his grain altogether. At that point I started looking for alternative treatments and I came across “MoreThanAlive”. I read all the great reviews posted on this website regarding the effectiveness of chaste tree berry powder on Cushing’s horses and I got convinced that I had to give it a chance. In April of 2012, I started giving our horse one teaspoonful of the chaste tree berry powder per day mixed with his morning grain. He accepted the new taste readily, even though he is very picky when it comes to what is added in his grain. Within a week his lethargy went away, the thick areas of his coat started to shed, his energy levels went up, and he returned to his own self, a highly energetic and playful horse we had missed during the recent years and had begun to accept his condition as aging. Even though the effect of the chaste tree berry powder was very obvious, I asked our vet to check his ACTH levels to confirm what we were seeing. Within one month on the powder, his ACTH levels had gone down to 48 pg/mL! Soon afterwards, I started doubling the dose by adding one teaspoonful of the powder in his evening grain as well. Last March, when we measured again his ACTH levels, they were found within the normal range: 31.9 pg/mL! We were thrilled! I must also confess that last year, once I witnessed the unbelievable transformation of our horse while on the powder, I began taking the powder myself to ease out my hot flashes! I have been on 1.3gr of chaste tree berry powder daily ever since. Thank you “MoreThanAlive”!

I started my 2 Insulin Resistant horses on Chaste Tree Berry powder in the Fall of 2012 and have seen great results in smaller crests and fat pads in just a few months.

I look forward to trying more of your products in the future.

I was told by a vet to use the chaste tree berry for my aging pony to help shed his winter coat. I started in the winter and it worked like a charm.

Then as I researched it I decided to try it on my Cushings mare. Worked like a charm again. She is also on HEIRO to treat insolin resistance so I now have her off the pergolide.

I also use CTB for my dog who would get terrible skin in the summer and after I had her spade at 8 yrs old it got really bad. She is now so much healthier. Her skin is good and her nose is wet. I can't remember it ever being wet and I've had her her whole life. She is ten yrs old and healthier than she has ever been.

I also started using it for myself for my hot flashes, again, works like a charm. I still get hot flashes but they are few and far between and not as strong and only last a couple minutes.

  5. I highly recommend it!

Posted by Mary Ann on 10th Nov 2013

I put 1/2 teaspoon on my horses grain at night and about a tablespoon of molasses at first to make sure he ate it but now don't use the molasses. He was on pergolide and had terrible side effects and this has saved him. He looks so much better. Good luck!

  6. This stuff really works for Cushings.

Posted by Emily Cates on 2nd Nov 2013

I own a 26 yr old Morgan mare, diagnosed with Cushings about 4 yrs ago. She also has Thyroid troubles.

She was on Pergolide for about a year and a half. It didn't do anything for her. I heard about Chaste tree berries from another horse friend, looked it up online and did some research. She has been on the CTB powder for a year and a half now and this spring she shed her very long(4") coat along with the rest of my horses. She has been over weight for a no. of years also and now is at the proper wt.

Herbs are not a quick fix like pharmaceuticals but they do work, you just have to be patient and give them time. I give my mare 1 Tbs. AM and PM for three weeks in her grain, then she gets one week off. She is also on Thyro-L for her thyroid. Good luck.

  7. Chaste Tree Berry Powder for my horse

Posted by Maureen on 16th Oct 2013

I have been using Chaste Tree Berry Powder for one of my horses who has Cushings disease. I have read many stories & research about it and all I can say is It works wonders. I didn't want to use the Rx prescribed by my vet after reading all the side effects. This is awesome! Just remember IF you decide to use this on your horse, do your research first.

  8. This is a wonderful product to help mares.

Posted by susan auster on 15th Oct 2013

I use 1/2 oz. two times a day. I use up the bag and then give them one week off the product. This is usually the way to make the herbs work better. I am so glad that I found this site. Maybe I shouldn't say this but I was paying so much more with another company. This is so affordable and I thank you so much for that. Since my horses say on this product for life, I will always be a customer.

  9. Seems to help my mare

I started giving the powdered Vitex to my mare in May to help her shed out. She has Cushings. It helped her to shed and improved her disposition.

  10. Cushings pony

Posted by Kathryn Fisher on 19th Sep 2013

We leased our older pony out to a family with children who supposedly knew how to take care of horses, but when we to checked on him, we discovered that he was being terribly neglected. We took him back, of course, but then realized that he now had full blown Cushings. (We had told the people who had him to keep an eye on him, as we believed him to be pre-Cushings).

A friend told me about some Cushings horses that were being treated with Chaste Tree Berries with great success. He's only been on them for about 3 months now, but he has finally shed his long coat, and his appetite has increased greatly. He had also been having very loose manure, and now that is also normal. He still needs to gain weight, but I would have to say that will come with time. My farrier, who hadn't seen him in 6 weeks, said that he looks so much better - that was good to hear from someone who hadn't seen him in a while.

I'm so glad that I was told about the Chaste Tree Berries, and that I happened to find the More Than Alive website! Oh, I also told a friend about them, and how they are supposed to help mares - he had me order 2 pounds for his granddaughter's horse, and they have helped this mare immeasurably!

  11. Fingers Crossed

Posted by Lisa Anderson on 17th Sep 2013

My little pony definitely has some IR issues and maybe starting with Cushings so I did my research and ordered CTB. My trimmer said they are recommending CTB to be given to all equines as it has such positive effects for health and hooves. Ordering was simple, well priced and delivery was fast. Only issue is my friend tried to order and it's out of stock.

  15. New to the Chaste Tree family of advocates

Posted by Patti Ising, Livermore, California on 29th Jul 2013

Just received my order of 5 lbs of Chaste Tree in 4 days. Our 28 yr old gelding was diagnosed 2 yrs ago by our vet with Cushings. Couldn't get the pergolide any where near his mouth. He hated the smell and taste. He loves the CT after only being on it for a week. I mix 1 tsp 2X a day in his Sr feed. He loves it. Will let you know the shedding out when we start to see it.

Referring you on to friends already. We were referred by our Farrier who has a client that is using this product. Oh, the power of the spoken words of referral and testimony!!

  16. Horses with Cushings & HOW MUCH TO GIVE

Posted by Unknown on 15th Jul 2013

I can't agree more with Coni Frei. If you have a horse with Cushings, Slowly introduce a senior feed or Beet Pulp or whatever your vet would recommend. During the spring and summer months, 1 time each day during the spring and summer months, I feed my 23 year old gelding who has Cushing, Beet Pulp soaked in water and sprinkled with 2 heaping tsp. of Chaste Tree Berry Powder. When Im ready to do chores, I add senior feed to the beet pulp/Chaste Tree Berry Powder mixture. During the fall and winter months, I feed twice a day so I only do 1 tsp. at each feeding, but I also add 1/4 cup Rice Bran Oil onto his feed each feeding. Adding the Rice Bran Oil helps with keeping the weight on during the cold winter months here in Minnesota! This really helps him. If you do feed Chaste Tree Berry Powder, remember to do 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

When I first started feeding the CTB powder, I added it on top of the soaked beet pulp right before feeding time. He wasn't too fond of it so I decided to add it in right away with the water and let it all soak up. That seemed to really help. You can also sprinkle a bit of garlic powder on top and that may help as well.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do but remember, it's always a good idea to check with your vet and get their thoughts as well.

The amount you should give is 2 heaping tsp. of Chaste Tree Berry Powder per day for 3 weeks on and 1 week off. OR 1 heaping tsp. twice a day. Good luck!

  17. Great for my horse with Cushings

Posted by Maureen on 15th Jul 2013

I have been using Chaste Tree Berry Powder for several years now on my 23 year old gelding who has Cushings. 3 Weeks on, 1 week off. 2 heaping tsp. 1 time a day during the spring and summer, but during the fall and winter months, I feed him twice a day so I put 1 heaping tsp. of CTB powder on his feed at each feed as well as 1/4 Cup of Rice Bran Oil to help keep his weight on. This REALLY helps him through the winter.

I have always and will continue to buy through More Than Alive, however, the last 2 orders I needed, they were out and had to buy elsewhere. ( I buy 5lbs. at a time and reorder when I open my last bag) I just hope this isn't an ongoing issue. They ship fast & have good prices.

  18. Super product

Posted by Deb on 5th Jul 2013

I have a 33 year old pre-Cushings/Cushings mare who's been on Chaste tree berry powder from More Than Alive for over 2 years now. We do the three weeks on/one week off dosage as recommended and she's done great! This is far more economical than the vet solutions out there, is palatable and seems to keep her going well. The only issue I've had is the one time More Than Alive was out of the 1 lb quantity......but that's only happened once. I buy it in the 1 lb size, usually 2 at a time b/c the fabulous packaging keeps me asssured that she's getting fresh product!

  19. 2 year old Proud Cut Gelding

Posted by Unknown on 14th Jun 2013

I purchased this after hearing Chaste Tree can help settle geldings that have stallion-like behavior. My 2 year old gelding was a cryptorchid colt and was castrated surgically as a yearling. This spring, he started mounting the mares he's turned out with when they came into season. We are CERTAIN his testicals were removed, but we believe a minute amount of epididymis was left behind. Other than hormone therapy, we don't have many other options. I thought I would see if the Chaste Tree powder would help. The first day, he turned his nose up at his feed with the powder in it. For my next attempt, I mixed it with a small amount of water, making a fairly thick "mud" out of the powder and mixed that with his pellets. That worked! I've been splitting his daily dosage between two feedings, after a week or so of making the water mixture he transitioned to the dry powder on his feed without any trouble. I've seen him mount a mare once since starting the powder, but he gave up very quickly (much more quickly than normal). He hasn't had it in his system for very long (only about a week and a half), so I'm very curious to see how things progress. I bout 5 pounds which should last him a good while, so we're going to stick with it and see what happens. Fingers crossed.

  21. 28-year-old mare shed out beautifully

Posted by Unknown on 4th Jun 2013

When my vet suspected that my 28-year-old thoroughbred mare had cushings, I decided to try chaste tree berry powder to treat her symptoms. She not only shed out beautifully, but the persistent nasal discharge that had plagued her for 6 months cleared right up. She now has a shiny, healthy coat and a sparkle in her eye. I have since recommended it to other owners of senior horses in my barn.

  22. Good quality Chaste Tree Berry Powder

Posted by Jan on 4th Jun 2013

Your Chaste Tree Berry Powder is a very good quality for a decent price. It has been much more expensive with other companies and quality not nearly as good.

Great value for a very high quality herb powder.
Will purchase again when I run out

  23. Really helps horses with Cushings

Posted by Barb Robison on 8th May 2013

I have a 23 year old gelding who was diagnosed with Cushings (PPID) a few years ago. He has been on Pergolide ever since, and though it seemed to help some, it did not prevent him from having recurring bouts of laminitis (from grazing on grass). I now keep him on a dry lot, but found that he still did not shed his winter coat well, and I had to body clip him, sometimes twice a year, to keep him comfortable. I started using the chaste berry powder this spring (1 heaping teaspoon twice a day), and he is doing much better, his thick winter hair is coming out by the handful and he also seems to have more energy and drinks less water than he used to. I would highly recommend this product for these types of horses.

  24. Questions

Posted by Judith on 4th May 2013

I have a 21yr old horse with Cushings. I did have a mule who was 26 with Cushings we put to sleep in 12/11. the Chasteberry really helped her. but my horse seems to be different. I giver her 1 TB every morning in her SR feed. She only gets 1/2 # which will go down to a TB as the summer progresses. She has been better with her weight as she has always been on a diet but last winter she lost a lot of weight and then the Cushings started... (vet diagnosed). She's back on the weight and mostly herself now. But the hair is not shedding out. I am going to have to get the clippers out soon. So can I giver her 2 TB? I usually feed grain 1 time a day since she gets so little and hay 2 times. Also why do you take them off 1 week? I have been doing it also but right now it seems that she should have it a full month or 2 to get her shed out. Any suggestions. Now just to come up with the money to reorder.... just took 2 of 6 cats to the vet for their rabies and regular vac's and check up's. One needs $300 dental surgery... which I can't afford right now so we're watching him and going to start brushing his teeth which could be fun...
