Chamomile has a warm, sweet, herbaceous scent that is relaxing and calming for both the mind and body. Its gentleness makes it especially valuable for restless children. Soothing to all types of skin, it is used extensively in Europe in skin preparations for young and old alike. Great when added to massage oil for exercise-stressed muscles.

Historical uses:

It was traditionally used by the ancient Romans to give them a clear mind and to empower them with courage for their battles. According to Roberta Wilson, “…chamomile was nicknamed the “plant’s physician” because it supposedly cured any ailing plant placed near it.”

  • Other Possible Uses:

    Chamomile neutralizes allergies and increases the ability of the skin to regenerate. It is a cleanser of the blood and also helps the liver to reject poison and to discharge them.

    This oil may help with allergies, bruises, cuts, depression, insomnia, muscle tension, nerves (calming and promoting nerve health), restless legs, and skin conditions like, acne, boils, dermatitis, eczema, rashes, and sensitive skin. Chamomile is mild enough to use on infants and children. For centuries, mothers have used chamomile to calm crying children, ease earaches, fight fevers, soothe stomachaches and colic, and relieve toothaches and teething pain. It can safely and effectively reduce irritability and minimize nervousness in children, especially hyperactive children.

    Aromatic Influence:

    Because it is calming and relaxing it can combat depression, insomnia, and stress. It eliminates some of the emotional charge of anxiety, irritability, and nervousness. It may also be used to soothe and clear the mind creating an atmosphere of peace and patience.

    Application:

    • Apply directly on area of concern or on bottom of feet, ankles, and wrists.
    • Diffuse.
    • Take internally in a drink or food.

    Oral Use as Dietary Supplement:

    Generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for internal consumption by the FDA. Dilute one drop in 1 tsp. honey or 4 oz. of beverage. Not for children under 6 years old; use with caution and in greater dilution for children 6 years old and over.
