The Waterview Spigot
In spite of their amazing capabilities to filter out microscopic impurities while leaving in the minerals that are necessary for your body's health, one characteristic of these stainless steel purification systems could create big problems. There's a weakness in the Berkey Water Filters that you may have noticed.
Often owners of the Berkey purifiers wish to refill the upper chamber while some of the water from the previous cycle remains in the lower chamber. With the stainless steel
systems, the upper chamber must be removed in order for the user to check for water levels in the lower chamber. This is inconvenient and messy because water continues to drip from the filter elements.
Checking water levels is especially difficult in no or low light conditions. However, if the upper water level is not checked, there is a risk that the upper chamber will be overfilled and later cause the lower chamber to overflow - possibly while the owners are away or preoccupied and causing a disaster.
After 9 years of using and offering the world-renown Berkey Filters, we have finally found the improvement to solve the Berkeys' one weakness: The Waterview Spigot.
The Waterview Spigot is a simple yet ingenious way to know at a glance just how much water your stainless steel Berkey system has in the bottom chamber. This glass tube acts as a water gauge displaying the water level inside the lower reservoir and takes the guess work out of when and how much water can be added to the upper chamber.
The spigot installs the same way as the original one that ships with the Berkey and is operated the same way. But it's the Waterview Spigot's vertical glass tube that fills to show precisely the level of water inside that makes all the difference.
By replacing the original spigot with the Waterview Spigot, you can end the guess work or messy checking of water levels and always know for sure how much purified water is available.
