Historical uses:
Lemon has been used to fight food poisoning, malaria and typhoid epidemics, and scurvy (in fact, sources say that Christopher Columbus carried lemon seeds to America – probably just the left overs from the fruit that was eaten during the trip).
Lemon has also been used to lower blood pressure and to help with liver problems, arthritis, and muscular aches and pains.

Application:
- Apply to Vita Flex Points and directly on area of concern.
- Diffuse.
Oral Use As Dietary Supplement:
Generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for internal consumption by the FDA. Dilute one drop in 1 tsp. honey or 4 oz. of beverage. Not for children under 6 years old; use with caution and in greater dilution for children 6 years old and over.
Safety Data:
Avoid direct sunlight for up to 12 hours after topical use. Can cause extreme skin irritation.
From Our Reading and/or Experience...
- Lemon has antiseptic-like properties and compounds the increase immune function.
- To deodorize and sterilize the air, it can be diffused or added to water in a spray bottle.
- A few drops of Lemon and Peppermint can be drank in water for a refreshing lift.
- Add one to two drops in 4 oz. of water and use as a gargle.
- It can be used as an insect repellent, but not under sun exposure. Citrus essential oils should not be used topically before any sun exposure.
- Like Cinnamon, it may be applied neat (undiluted) on hands and bottoms of feet. We use it this way as soon as any of us feels we are coming down with something.
- May be added to food as a dietary supplement or as a wonderful clove flavoring agent.
- Not all essential oils are the same. This is not like other brands of clove essential oil that you may find at health food stores. This is therapeutic-grade which is more effective and suitable for internal use.
