Essential Oils: Lemongrass Essential oil

$7.00 Quantity:

Lemongrass Oil captures the strong, refreshing aroma of lemons, making it a wonderful addition to any home. Native to India, Lemongrass has been a part of Ayurvedic medicine for centuries as a way to cleanse, purify and stimulate all of the body's major systems. Beeyoutiful's Lemongrass Oil is 100% Pure and Natural, and steam distilled from the plant's leaves.

The close cousin of the popular citronella, Lemongrass is an excellent insect repellent. Lemongrass not only repels but kills many insect species as well. The same lemony scent that citronella produces can also be enjoyed when using Lemongrass: definitely a plus over the traditional “stinky” bug sprays that are commercially available.

Traditionally, Lemongrass Oil has also been prized for its anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties, as well as a fever reducer, anti-depressant, pain reliever, astringent, deodorant, diuretic, aid to nursing and sedative. It is amazing how this edible plant can aid the body in so many different ways. For ease of use, Beeyoutiful’s steam-distilled Lemongrass oil harnesses the strength of the Lemongrass plant into one bottle!

Possible benefits:

Fever Reducer: Lemongrass is an excellent fever reducer. Mix several drops of Lemongrass Essential Oil in one teaspoon of carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil and rub on the bottom of the feet, the navel and temples. Repeat as needed. Caution: Lemongrass can cause some skin irritation so keep watch for signs of sensitivity. Either increase carrier oil amount or decrease the Lemongrass in the ratio. If the skin is too sensitive, Lemongrass essential oil may be diffused in the room.

Anti-Depressant: Rub on the temples and bottom of the feet. Not only will the Lemongrass encourage and stimulate blood flow, which helps relieve depression, but it helps to relieve gloomy moods through aromatherapy as well. Diffusing Lemongrass in your home can help drive the blues away!

Pain Reliever: Excellent for sore muscles, blending Lemongrass Oil with a carrier oil makes a superb massage oil that gentle relieves the aches and pains. It can be used liberally as long as no skin sensitivity is observed. Makes a great homemade massage oil!

Deodorant and Astringent: A few drops can be used to help keep acne at bay. You may add to witch hazel or plain water to rinse the face. The same mixture may be sprayed or applied to places where offensive odors often occur. The sweet smell of Lemongrass is a nice alternative, especially on warm days!

Diuretic: Lemongrass can not only increase your urine flow, but also frequency. This is great for those suffering from water retention. A few drops can be added to a cup of warm tea or a glass of ice water. The light lemony flavor is a nice companion to many beverages.

Aid to Nursing: A tea made of the lemongrass stalk has long been used to increase breast milk and its richness. Adding several drops of the oil to a tea or ice water would be a great way to insure rich and full milk supply. Note: We do suggest that you ask your midwife/doctor before starting any supplement while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Rest for the Weary: Lemongrass has amazing sedative properties and thus is tremendous at helping to bring rest to those suffering with insomnia. It may be used in the cleaning of bedclothes to leave the soothing fragrance on the sheets. Can be sprinkled on pillows and pajamas! Also can be consumed by sprinkling a few drops in a warm chamomile tea prior to bed. Makes a wonderful massage oil when added to a carrier oil! Place a few drops on the temples, navel and bottom of the feet before bed.

This Lemon grass essential oil is wonderful. The aroma is simply sublime and my favorite!!! I do have one question: Is it safe to put a few drops of it into my chamomile tea? The back of the bottle says "NOT FOR INTERNAL USE" but the information on your site regarding this oil states that it is safe for mixing with your tea....??? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Grace

    Hey there Grace,

This is such a good question. I am wondering the same thing! What oils can be taken and what can only be used externally ? Have you received any feedback regarding this?

Look at Young Living Essential Oils. They are "Theraputic Grade". Which is far superior to other oils which are generally "Not suitable for internal consumption". They are pricey but well worth every penny. A good majority of them are designed for human consumption and even some that they recommend be diluted, I have used for years full strength with no side effects beyond temporary discomfort (a few minutes or less) with some of the stronger, more concentrated oils. My favorites from their line include "Theives, Raven, RC, Lemon, Sandalwood, Joy, and the oils included in their essential 7 kit and daily use oils kit." I haven't discovered oils at a higher quality or purity at any price.
